How to Tell if Your House is Haunted

Many people often ask how to find out if their house is haunted. Most folks would think that if you have to ask your house is probably not haunted. There are those dwellings that are blatantly and vividly “possessed.” However, from past experience I can tell you that the events can be subtle and can evolve very slowly over time.  In the case of my grandparents’ home, I knew at age four the house had a ghost. But as events unfolded in my own home, I could not believe at first that what was happening was paranormal behavior.  There are certain defining moments that confirm what you are seeing, hearing, and touching is not a coincidence or imagination.

I would like to help you find out if your house is really haunted.  The following steps should be taken to determine if your house is haunted.

1. Listen for strange sounds that cannot be attributed to anything.
2. Be observant when you are home alone.
3. Notice electrical appliances, lights, water sources and furniture for changes.
4. Document little things that don’t seem to be “just right.”
5. If you suspect you have a ghost, ask a very perceptive friend to come stay at your house.
6. Notice unusual odors particularly floral.
7. Some people like verification and invite a “ghostbuster” into their home. Research the company and references first.
8. Investigate sources of the ghost from property titles, family archives, neighbors, and diaries.
9. Talk to previous home owners if this is not a new home.
10. Pay attention to the responses from the pets in the house and around the house.
11. Use your own instincts when you feel “something is going on.”

If you follow these instructions, you can probably find out if your house is haunted.
